Daily Inspirational for Friday 12-29-06
 
With the new year comes fresh starts, resolutions, and new beginnings. It is a time of making plans, setting goals, and writing visions. But the greatest "new start" of all comes through Jesus Christ. II Corinthians 5:17 says: "Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a NEW creation; the old has passed away, behold the new has come."

If you need a new beginning this year, in any area of your life, allow Christ to make you a new creation and the old will pass away! He will put a new and right spirit within you when you call upon His name! This year, make your relationship with Him your number one priority. As you develop an intimacy with Him through daily prayer and the study of His Word, you will experience the joy of newness of life!
 
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me."  (Psalms 51:10)

God wants us to constantly be growing, and sometimes He'll use a little adversity to get us moving forward.  He will allow pressure to push you, to stretch you, to get you out of your comfort zone.  He knows just how much you can take, and in your times of distress, keep in mind, God is enlarging you.  The struggle is giving you strength.
 
"Your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.  Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, This is the way; walk in it."  (Isaiah 30:20-21)

It's not always easy to get over some of those bumps in the road, those disillusionments and disappointments.  It's going to take a strong will.  Sometimes, it may take courage; sometimes nothing but faith in God and sheet determination will see you through.  But you can say, "I refuse to be trapped in the past.  I'm not going to let the past destroy my future.  I'm pressing on.  I'm straining forward, knowing that God has great things in store for me!"
 
"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."  (Philippians 3:14)

We should never speak negative, destructive words towards anybody, especially toward people over whom we have authority or influence.  Just because you have your own business or supervise a large number of employees doesn't give you the right to talk down to them and make them feel badly about themselves.  Quite the contrary!  God is going to hold you accountable for what you say to those individuals under your authority.  Go out of your way to speak positive words that build up and encourage.
 
"Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.  Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark."  (James 3:5)

Here's some good new:  You don't have to keep up with the Jones's.  You can run your own race and be an individual.  God has given you the grace to do what He's called you to do.  He has not given you the grace to go what everybody else is doing.
 
"Let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up; and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us."  (Hebrews 12:1)

God has observed every time you went out of the way to lend a helping hand.  God is keeping those records.  Some people will tell you that it doesn't make any difference whether you give or not, or that it doesn't do any good.  But don't listen to those lies.  God has promised that your generous gifts will come back you.
 
"Then the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?"  …The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."  (Matthew 25:37, 40)

I'm convinced that one day we will look back at what we considered to be the worst thing that could happen to us, and we'll realize that God used even that time of adversity to refine us, mold us, shape us, and prepare us for good things to come.  Interesting, isn't it?  Adversity often pushes us into our divine destiny.  And sometimes we need a push!
 
"For you, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living."  (Psalm 116:8-9)

Every morning when you get up, refuse to dwell on what you did wrong the day before.  Refuse to dwell on yesterday's disappointments.  Get up each day knowing that God is a loving and forgiving God, and He has great thing in store for you.
 
"I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall.  Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope; Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."  (Lamentations 3:19-23)

We need to be extremely careful about what we allow to come out of our mouths.  The next time you're tempted to talk down to somebody, to belittle your child or degrade him/her, remember, you can't ever get those words back.  Once you speak them, they take on a life of their own.  Use your words to speak blessings over people.  Quit criticizing the people around you and start declaring great things in store for their future.
 
"Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father.  Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mother, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity."  (1 Timothy 5:1-2)

We all must learn to appreciate out differences.  Don't try to squeeze everybody into your little box.  And don't allow anyone else to cramp your style.  Certainly, we can always learn from other people, and sometimes we need to be open to change.  But you need not feel insecure because you don't have the same physical, emotional, or intellectual traits that someone else has….Be happy with who God made you to be.
 
"Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God."  (Romans 15:7)

When you give, you are storing up God's goodness and His favor so in your time of need, you'll have a great harvest out of which God can "draw" to meet your need.  You may not have any pressing needs today.  That's great!  But don't let that stop you from giving.  Prepare for the future.  When you do have a need, God will be right there to help you out.  Giving is similar to taking a preventive medicine.  You are storing up God's goodness.
 
"I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.  They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed."  (Psalm 37:25-26)

God uses ordinary people like you and me to do extraordinary things.  He's not looking for great education.  God is simply looking for a willing heart.  God is not looking for ability; He's looking for availability.  Just give God what you have.  If you'll give God the little that you do have, He'll take that and multiply it and increase it.  And He'll make more out of your life than you've ever dreamed possible.  God's plan for your life is so much bigger and so much greater than you can imagine.

Maybe you have put a lot of time and resources into your Plan A.  But now you can clearly see that the door is closing, and you disappointed.  Right there is where you must dare to trust God, knowing that He has a better plan for you.  He wants to do something new in your life.  And you must let go of the old so you will be ready and able to receive the new plan God has for you.  God will do more than you can ever ask or think.

What are you passing down to the next generation?  It's not enough to think it; you must vocalize it.  A blessing is not a blessing until it is spoken.  The children in your life need to hear you say words such as, "I believe in you.  I think you're great."  They need to hear your approval.  They need to feel your love.  They need your blessing.

If you will sow an extraordinary seed, you will reap an extraordinary harvest.  What seed are you putting in the ground?  Are you giving God anything to work with?  If not, start planning and start planting!  The Bible says, "Give generously, for your gifts will return to you later.  Divide your gifts among many, for in the days ahead you yourself may need much help."  Notice, God is giving us a principle here that will cause us to have our needs supplies during those tough times that occasionally come.
 
"Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again."  (Ecclesiastes 11:1)
