Each of us has influence over somebody. Even if you're a teenager, somebody values your opinion. It is vital that we speak "good things" into the lives of those over whom we have influence. That doesn't mean we will never disagree with them or have to confront and correct them. But the general tenor of our words to them and about them should be positive.
"Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children and to their children after them." (Deuteronomy 4:9)
